Social network has been an indispensable part of our lives, while overuse of social network (OSN) has a negative effect on our bodies and mind. It’s, therefore, important for researchers to explore the formation mechanism of OSN. The present study summed up the research progress of OSN based on the I-PACE Model, and analyzed drawbacks of existing researches: firstly, subjects are only limited to college students; secondly, methods to collect data are relatively sample; thirdly relevant terms are misused. In addition to the above problems, the following defects still exist: the interven-tion study is ignored and I-PACE model needs more modifications. Based on above analysis, the present study put forward five research prospects: 1) Relevant terms should be defined precisely, 2) Research subjects should be more diverse, 3) Modify the I-PACE model, 4) Integrate multiple methods to carry out research, 5) Strengthen intervention study on OSN.
